3 Arrested For Impersonating Buhari And Wife

The Police Force Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department, FCIID, yesterday, charged three men before a Federal High Court, Lagos, over alleged cyber crime and Imitating President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha.                             

The accused are Julius Anyawu, alias Musa Mohammed, 48; Kenneth Ezeonu alias Abdul Karim, 45; and George Agu alias Dr Lina Norman, 48.                           

The accused, who were arraigned on 16-count charge bordering on cyber crime, had no legal representative and they all pleaded not guilty to the charges.

After their pleas, the prosecutor, Mr. Benson Asogwa, urged the court to remand the accused in prison and fix a date for trial. Justice Babs Kiewumi, consequently, adjourned the case until January 8, 2019 for trial.

The court, however. ordered that the accused be remanded in prison pending trial.

The prosecution alleged that the accused conspired with others who are now at large to commit the offences on August 8 at 10, Hassan Idowu Street, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.

They were arrested by CP Dan Okoro, Head of Anti-Fraud Unit in Alagbon, in Lagos.

Former lecturer of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Richard Akindele was on Monday sentenced to 6 years in jail for demanding sex to pass his student,Monica Osagie by Justice Maurine Onyetenu of the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo The accused had pleaded not guilty to the charge of sexual harassment preferred against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offenses Commission, ICPC. He had since then been remanded in prison custody following objection to his bail by the prosecution ICPC. When the case came up on Monday, Richard opted to change his earlier plea and admitted guilty of the offences as charged. He was arraigned before Justice onyetenu on November 19 for alleged sexual harassment.
